The back story

About Arriving in St Lucia: Hewanorra or George F. L. Charles, entry form and transfers
Most visitors land at Hewanorra, at the southern tip, and many hotels are in the north, so it pays to plan the last leg of the journey.
Two airports
Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) is in Vieux Fort, about 40 miles south of Castries, and handles the long-haul flights: American Airlines from Miami, Charlotte and Philadelphia; JetBlue from New York and Boston; Delta from Atlanta; United from Newark and Chicago; Air Canada and WestJet from Toronto; British Airways and Virgin Atlantic from London; and Air France from France. George F. L. Charles (SLU), just outside Castries, is the inter-island airport, with regional airlines including interCaribbean, Sunrise Airways, Air Adelphi, LIAT 20, Winair and Caribbean Airlines.

Before you land
Air arrivals are encouraged to complete the electronic immigration form online up to three days before travel; one form covers a family, and you receive a QR code by email to show on arrival. Many visitors from the US, Canada, the UK and several European countries need no visa for short stays, but check the rules for your nationality. The air departure tax is included in your ticket.

Plan the last leg of the journey.
From Hewanorra to your hotel
By road, Soufrière is about 45 minutes away, Marigot Bay 1 hour 10, Castries 1 hour 15 and Rodney Bay 1 hour 30. Licensed taxis (light-blue TX plates) wait outside, and many hotels arrange transfers. FunToSee Island runs water-taxi transfers to the north-west resorts, and St. Lucia Helicopters flies to the north in 10 to 15 minutes, in daylight.
Private jets
Signature Aviation runs the private-aviation terminal at Hewanorra (Signature UVF), with passenger and crew lounges; it opened as the IAM Jet Centre, with in-house customs and immigration.
Arriving by sea
Cruise ships berth at Pointe Seraphine and in Castries harbour. Yachts clear in at Rodney Bay Marina, Marigot Bay or Soufrière within 24 hours of arrival; visitors may stay up to three months. The FRS Express des Îles ferry arrives from Martinique, Dominica and Guadeloupe; passengers leaving by sea pay EC$33.
