Gros Islet Friday Night Street Party
The island’s most famous jump-up
About Gros Islet Friday Night Street Party
The tourism authority calls it perhaps Saint Lucia’s most famous jump-up, and it has run every Friday, come rain or shine, for more than 50 years. From sunset, the streets of the old fishing village fill with sound systems and grills: chicken, pork and fresh seafood, from conch to lobster, with soca and reggae and locals and visitors dancing side by side until the early hours. Go by taxi, carry small notes in EC dollars, and keep an eye on your belongings in the crowd.
