About Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens & Mineral Baths
The Soufrière Estate was part of a 2,000-acre grant made by Louis XIV of France in 1713. In 1784 the governor, the Baron de Laborie, sent its mineral water to Paris for analysis, and Louis XVI funded a stone bath house with 12 baths; it was destroyed after the French Revolution and later restored, and the hot-spring public baths are open to visitors today, with two original private baths you can book at the gate. The Diamond River flows down from the Sulphur Springs, and its waterfall is stained by the minerals it carries.
